You Are a Bridge

[Tuesday, November 13]

“Seek ways to be a bridge with those who may be different from you or those who you may not always feel connected with. Know that if they are following Me in integrity and truth, there is great benefit when you uplift and promote the good they are doing for Me, says the Lord.”

Prophetic Scripture:

If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men (Romans 12:18).

One of the beautiful things about the Body of Christ is that we are all different. It reflects an actual physical body with different parts, shapes, and functions. However, as different parts of Christ’s Body, sometimes we don’t always see eye to eye or appreciate the importance of the other parts of the Body. Due to many factors, we can all have a different approach to ministry, church, Scripture, and even prayer. Some pray loudly, while others are more quiet. Some preach in a mild-mannered way, while others shout. In any given setting, factors such as these can cause us to misunderstand one another or not appreciate one another’s value.

Instead of being critical, choose to be a bridge. We can be a bridge by realizing that while someone may not be our personal flavor, they may be the right flavor for someone else. We can be a bridge by focusing on the areas where we are similar instead of different. We can also be a bridge by not over-emphasizing our differences and blowing them out
of proportion. The key is we need to live in peace where we are able and know that this endeavor has great benefits for all of the Body of Christ. Always remember—you are a bridge.

Lord, teach me how to be a bridge with my fellow members of the Body of Christ. Help me not become critical of those who I don’t understand or who are different from me. Teach me how to live in peace whenever possible. Amen!
