Stable and Surefooted

[Wednesday, April 17]

“I cause you to stand this day, and I say your hands are strong and your knees are stable, making you sure-footed, so that no emotional or physical weakness shall be able to cripple you.”

Prophetic Scripture:

Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees (Isaiah 35:3).

It’s notable that diseases like arthritis are receiving more attention these days. Perhaps arthritis is becoming more common, or perhaps it’s that the medical community mixed with media advertising is creating more awareness. Either way, the exposure seems to have a prophetic significance for our time in history. It’s a time when we see more believers falling away from their faith and confidence in the Lord. It’s like a form of spiritual arthritis where their spiritual limbs feel weak and unable to stand. The prophet Isaiah gives a prophetic declaration over God’s people by telling them to strengthen themselves. Obviously, he knew it wasn’t something they could do alone, but as we see in the verse above he gives the initial instruction by opening with the word strengthen. The understood subject in that sentence is “you.” I believe it means that overcoming the arthritic condition described begins with taking the first step and seeing yourself rising above it. From there, the power of God undergirds your decision and adds strength to you.

See yourself standing tall and getting stronger each day through the power of God. Even if you are dealing with actual physical arthritis, you can do the same. Once you see it in your heart, expect God’s power to come along and cause you to stand stable and sure-footed.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I see myself strong and well able to stand today. I command
every arthritic condition to leave my life, and I picture myself completely
strengthened by Your power—spirit, soul, and body! In Jesus Name, amen.
