“The Lord says, remember that there is always liberty in a lifestyle of truthfulness. Even in times when it seems difficult to stand on the side of truth, always know that it makes Me rejoice when My children walk in truth, for prosperity will follow them.”
I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth (3 John 4).
Third John is a short letter written by John to Gaius. John expresses in the letter his love for his friend, but also his appreciation that Gaius lived a life of truthfulness. Then John goes on to say that he rejoices when his children walk in truth. Living in truth is presented in three main ways. First, by choosing to speak the truth. That means we should not deceive, cheat or participate in behaviors that go along with lying.
Second, it comes by choosing to stand for the truth. Sometimes we get caught in situations where we are fearful to stand up for what’s right out of fear of persecution or controversy. Third, it comes by holding fast to biblical truth. Much of the Christian world is compromising biblical truth today.
We need to make every effort to live a life of truth. It isn’t always as easy as we think to walk in truth since we often experience interference by our own fears, religious ideals, sinful habits, or similar things. However, it may propel you to walk in truth more confidently to know that it pleases God, just as much as John said it pleased him. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you walk in truth today. He will help you and you will live with the freedom of knowing that you are one of God’s children of truth!
Lord, I make a commitment to a lifestyle of truthfulness. Forgive me for any areas of untruthfulness or even times when I was fearful to stand up for the truth. Cause my life to be known for walking in truth. Amen.
